On January 31, a historic match in Kinshasa, Republic of Congo, between Congolese fighter Ilunga Makabu and Polish Michal Cieslak, with the vacant WBC cruiserweight to be contested.
Makabu has just won important victories against Russian fighters Dmitry Kudryashov and Aleksei Papin. Cieslak, who remains undefeated as a professional, comes from knocking out Nigerian Olanrewaju Durodola in 3 rounds. Makabu vs. Cieslak for the vacant championship is the first world title fight in Democratic Republic of Congo in 45 years.
