Julio Cesar Martinez has been presented with his flyweight belt by World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman, and WBC Historian and Head of Press Don Victor Cota, promising that the best is yet to come!
JC won the crown with a relentless, ruthless and overwhelming TKO performance against lanky, talented and tough Cristopher Rosales of Nicaragua in mini Marciano style. His Trainer Mauricio Aceves was also presented the wide version of the Green and Gold Belt, reserved for outstanding Coaches. Still only twenty four years young and at the zenith peak of his powers, the five foot four fireball, who`s proving to be a ring giant, wants and aims to be a busy champion. So much so, that he`s already penciled his first defense against undefeated Welshman Jay Harris on February 29th at the Ford Center at The Star, Frisco, determined to progress by leaps and bounds in a Leap Year. Both fighter and trainer said that the bout against ex Champion Rosales was without doubt his most challenging to date and he`d learned a lot, including patience, persistence and guile from the memorable plus exacting encounter. Julio Cesar has thanked his Trainer, the WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman and Manager Eddy Reynoso for their sustained confidence in him. He says he`s looking forward to facing yet another Brit, in fact his second Welsh opponent, and will use all of his power and boxing ability to win. Modest almost to a fault, thanking God for these opportunities, he says all of his efforts are for his Wife and Children, to insure that they want for nothing, now and in the future. For him Family is his bedrock and it comes first.
